Such A Croc
Jim's first cartoon purchased by PanelStripLOL.
Jim Cox has spent over 25 years as a cartoonist, creating single-panel humor for magazines, newsletters, and publications nationwide. In 2021 he created the comic strip Tex & Clem, and in 2022 he added editorial cartooning to his repertoire — quickly earning four National Newspaper Association Foundation Awards for Best Original Editorial Cartoons along the way.
Jim grew up in a small Texas town not unlike the one Tex and Clem call home, and that upbringing shows up in almost everything he draws — a respect for hard work, a healthy suspicion of anyone who talks too much, and an ear for the kind of humor that only comes from actually knowing your neighbors.
Today, Jim creates original gag cartoons, editorial cartoons, and the Tex & Clem comic strip for magazines, newspapers, publishers, and organizations across the country, while continuing to build CoxToons into a home for readers, editors, and collectors alike.

Started out creating single-panel gag cartoons — humor built for magazines and everyday readers, no political agenda required. That foundation still shows up in everything Jim draws today.
After two decades of gag cartooning, introduced the comic strip Tex & Clem — small-town, Wild West humor built around two unforgettable characters.
Added editorial cartooning to the mix, bringing sharp commentary on current events to a career already built on humor.
Received the first two National Newspaper Association Foundation Awards for Best Original Editorial Cartoons.
Earned two additional NNAF Awards, becoming a four-time honoree for original editorial cartooning.
Built coxtoons.com as a central home for licensing, syndication, books, prints, and merchandise — turning a growing cartoon archive into a lasting business.
Since January 2026, Jim has been a contributing cartoonist for PanelStripLOL, a platform where cartoonists submit the moment right before or right after a featured main cartoon. Every submission Jim has sent has been purchased by the platform, making him PanelStripLOL's most-purchased contributing cartoonist to date. These cartoons are exclusive to PanelStripLOL and are not available for licensing.
